Have you asked yourself "how to be a ninja" or "is there any ninja school around me"? If you leave around Fort Lauderdale, Florida then the answer is Yes. Our school focuses on the art of the Ninja or how we call it Ninjutsu ("Nin" = Ninja, "Jutsu" = art) Our school is part of Bujinkan organization which is the most prestigious and famous Ninjutsu school in the world. Our classes are tought as directed by the greatest Ninjutsu grand master in the world, Masaaki Hatsumi through his live classes in Japan, his special appointed Dai Shihans (grand masters), his videos and books.
“Nature is your friend; it helps you to win. Your enemy will have unnatural movement, therefore you will be able to know what he is going to do before he does it.” -- Masaaki Hatsumi
“You can only understand if you've had the technique done to you. It's like food. You can't describe the taste, but if you've tasted it, you know what it is. You have to personally experience it to understand.” -- Masaaki Hatsumi
Yes, you can, but we'd advise you don't and just participate. First lesson is free and like Hatsumi Sensei says, you can't judge food just by looking at it, same with our classes. You have to feel them to fully understand what we do and to make an informed decision. If you have any reasons to avoid doing that let the instructor know, but there is nothing to be afraid of, our classes ensure safe practice so your body will not be harmed and also respectful practice so your dignity will not be harmed either. For anything else just let the instructor know.
In general you need yourself. But there are other things to consider like money, clothing, weapons, protection, hydration and others. So let's take them one by one and see:
Study of each Bujinkan school with their specific concepts, katas and attitude. Some schools are ninjutsu oriented, some are for self defense, some are for law inforcement, some are for samurai and warfare so there is something interesting in each school worth learning
Study of use of weapons to attack and defend as well as how to defend against weapons. Traditional Bujinkan shools focus on a large array of weapons, Ninja were well known for a very varied and creative set of weapons used. Our classes typically focus on traditional weapons like Bo (6ft wooden staff), Hanbo (3ft wooden staff), Katana (Sword), Tanto (knife). For safety reasons all our classes are done with non-live wapons and with padded weapons (where needed)
Our body is our vehicle, we have to invest in it to be able to have an active and fulfilling life. Majority of the martial arts practitioners don't ever use martial arts for self defense, however no one can question the benefits of these classes from the health perspective. Our classes enhance that perspective with additional exercises specially designed to boost imune system, improve blood flow, stimulate internal organs and adapt body to mild shocks for a fast recovery in case of an accident
Posture defines who we are, how we feel and what our intent is. A correct posture allows free movement and a free mindset. Whether static or during movement posture is the most important aspect of any martial art and a concept that can be reused in any sport, activity, work, business or life. It dictates what others see in us and it dictates what we can do or feel.
The mind is our greatest friend or greatest enemy. To control it is the actual battle we all have to face. Our classes provide specific exercises to improve mental focus, calmness and to reach awareness. We also have exercises meant for quick reactions so we create reflexes for actions that are known leaving the mind to focus on more important and unknown actions or conditions
How we react in stressful conditions differs than how we react in normal conditions. If we don't train for stress we can't manage stress. Our classes drill down and use various levels of stress and stress factors so our reactions are quick, precise and trained.
Whether used for combat or any other sport, coordination is a key element of efficient and controlled movement. It is the key to success for most sports and studying with high granularity is needed in our school.
Enoough talk, see you in class...
